The Certified Blue Restaurant (CBR) program supports and recognizes the outstanding Long Beach restaurants that achieve exceptional water efficiency in our community. Interested restaurants can enroll below to receive a no-cost, on-site efficiency survey, free water efficient devices (if eligible), and an assessment for other possible rebates.
Certified Blue Restaurant Program
Restaurants must meet all items listed below in order to be certified:
Criteria for the Certified Blue Restaurant Program
Kitchen hand sinks: 0.5 gallon per minute (GPM) or lower
Dishwasher: Energy Star certified
Toilets: 1.6 gallons per flush (GPF) or lower
Restroom faucets: 0.5 gallon per minute or lower
Pre-rinse spray valves: 1.1 gallons per minute (GPM) or lower.
(Tip: Pre-rinse spray valves are available to restaurants during on-site survey)

Wash down procedures utilize a pressure washer and/or water broom
Air cooled ice machines in use
Connectionless or boilerless food steamers in use
Dipper well is heated or utilizes non-continuous flow technology
*Retrofit required if staff determines payback period of this device is less than 2 years.
